Our Commitment
At Just Another Con, we are deeply committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space for every person, whether you attend, volunteer, exhibit, or perform.
Harassment of any kind is not tolerated.
Our goal is for everyone to feel respected, valued, and free to enjoy the convention.
What is Harassment?
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
Verbal, physical, visual, or digital behavior that is unwelcome or makes someone feel unsafe, offended, or disrespected.
Inappropriate comments or behavior related to gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, age, body size, appearance, disability, or other status.
Intimidation, bullying, stalking, or following someone persistently.
Unwelcome physical contact of any kind such as hugs, touching, kissing, placing hands on someone, etc.
Harassing photography or recording (taking photos or videos of someone without their permission), especially in sensitive or private situations.
Disrupting panels, presentations, workshops or other convention activities.
Bathroom policing (harassing someone because of the bathroom they choose or need to use).
Any behavior that violates a person’s boundaries, whether implied or explicitly stated.
Cosplay Is Not Consent
We want this to be especially clear:
Wearing a costume does not give anyone the right to touch, photograph, make sexual or lewd comments about, or otherwise violate the personal space or dignity of a cosplayer.
Whether a costume is revealing, elaborate, or modest, the same rules apply. Consent must always be given for any interaction.
Cosplayers are people first. Under the costume (and often behind makeup, prosthetics, or character persona) is a person with feelings, boundaries, and the right to say “no.”
Consent can be withdrawn at any time. If someone says “stop,” “no,” or “I’m not comfortable,” that must be respected immediately.
Who This Applies To
This policy applies to everyone at Just Another Con, including but not limited to:
Attendees.
Guests, panelists, vendors, artists.
Staff, volunteers, security.
Media, photographers, livestreamers.
Reporting Harassment
If you experience or witness harassment:
Report it right away to any staff member, volunteer, or security. Look for people with Con Staff badges.
If you feel more comfortable, go to the designated Help/Info Desk / Con Ops.
You may also submit a report via our Incident Report Form. Reports may be made anonymously.
If needed, we can assist with contacting local law enforcement or venue security, providing safe escort, or finding a safe space.
Consequences
We take reports seriously and will respond as needed. Depending on severity, consequences may include:
Verbal warning.
Requirement to stop certain behavior.
Removal from the event (badge revoked) without refund.
Permanent ban from future events.
Legal action if required.
Additional Guidelines for Respectful Behavior
Ask before taking photos or posting images online. Respect people’s wishes if asked not to be photographed.
Don’t touch someone’s costume, props, or body without explicit permission. Costume components can be fragile, personal, or have meaning.
Respect personal space and boundaries. If someone seems uncomfortable, give them room.
Use inclusive language; be mindful of pronouns and identity.
Zero-Tolerance & Enforcement
We have zero tolerance for harassment or violation of this policy.
Staff and volunteers are trained to respond, de-escalate, and enforce these guidelines.
Violators may be asked to leave immediately, without refund, and may be barred from future events.
Why This Matters
Harassment, including non-consensual touching, photography, comments, or pressure, can deeply impact someone’s experience.
By being explicit, we protect everyone’s right to enjoy the convention freely, safely, and with dignity.
