Luke 5:16 (NASB)
Jesus Would Slip Away into the Wilderness to Pray
16 But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
John 1:9-10
All Things are Made Through Jesus
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
Matthew 11:30
My Yoke is Easy and My Burden is Light
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Jesus would often slip away to the wilderness and pray…Jesus went often to the wilderness…St. Luke does not say just once, but the author makes a point to tell us He did this quite often...There surrounded by nature He prayed…He alone prayed to His Father...And I suspect Jesus found great comfort there…There with nature all around Him, looking at the creations of His Father…And Jesus knew and felt these things of nature around Him, because all things are made through Him...
It is said God has written two books, the Bible and the Book of Nature…
These verses reminds me of my brother…He certainly was no prophet, and no Saint, and certainly not our LORD and Savior…
But often my brother went out in nature, in the wilderness to hunt and fish…He loved God's Book of Nature...There in a tree in the morning and in the dark, he could find a peace there…There he felt the light burden of the yoke of the One who put these things near him…Those things put there in nature were pure and could be trusted...He loved these places...Time passed quickly for him there…And often he did go and often not knowing how much time had passed (so caught up in those things around him), as he set there in this peace watching the deer and God's nature as time went speeding by…There he was unreconciled with time...His time there vanished so rapidly...These times were etched in his heart...These times would add up and be his places to go and rest...This was his meditation, his time to withdraw from the things of life and be to insulated in nature and by nature…And in this nature and beside the still waters of the woods, he found great comfort there…
