John 1:1-4
The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
1 John 4:7-21
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us,we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
Matthew 3:16-17
God Tells Us He Loves His Son
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
John 3:16-21
God's Love for Man
16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”
John 6:28-29
The Work of God
28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
John 13:34-35
Love One Another
34"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Love is to be shared...Jesus was with God in the beginning (since the world began)...God is Love and God has always Loved His Son (since the world began)...After John the Baptist baptizes Jesus, God says "this is My Son, whom I Love; with Him I AM well pleased."...Since the world began and in the beginning -God shared His love with His Son...God also Loves us...He gave His Son's life for us, to show His Love...He gave His Son to us to share in His Love...Love is all about sharing...We cannot love, if we are the only one on earth -we would have no one to love...Love takes two or more to happen and be...
Jesus tells His disciples He is giving them a new command, as I have Loved you, so you must Love one another...Even though God's Love has been always in existence, Jesus tells them about this new command to Love each other as He has Loved them...The Disciples were to share their love among each other...
To have love and to share love, there has to be free choice...If someone says I demand that you love me, more than likely you will not love them...If God would have said "Love Me."...We more than likely, we would not love Him...Free will and love and His Love cannot be demanded and forced...
An example of sharing love, is when new parents have a baby...They spouse wants to first share their love for their baby with each other...They also want their parents to see their new child and share in the delight and love they have for their child...They also want their close friends to see their new child and share in this act of how they feel...You being a close friend see the love they have for their child and share in that delight with them...When something happens in our life that causes us great delight, we feel an urgency to hug, to kiss, or the high five...We want to share that delight, that feeling we have...
Jesus wants us to share in His type of Love...He has the ability not only to Love everyone, but He also Loves His enemies (and even prays for them)...He wants us to Love all our neighbors...He wants Love to be shared with everyone...This is His type of Love...The ability to share Love with everyone, without barriers, feelings that may block Love...He has the ability to work through any barrier to feel His type of Love for another...
Because God Loves each of us, He wanted to share His Son with us...Out of this Love came forgiveness of our sins because of the Fall of Adam and Even in the Garden...We fell from grace in the Paradise, He built for us...But He sent His Son to us to die on the cross, so we might be forgiven...Not only are we forgiven, but we are also saved...All we have to do, is believe in God and the One that He has sent...God has Loved us first, and because of this we can also love...God sends His Son into our world and to us, so that we might live through Him...Knowledge of God and His Son and how they give us free choice, and unfettered Love makes Them easier to love from our hearts and believe in the type of Love they teach...
