John 12:9-11
Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus
9 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him.
Lazarus was sick and had died in John chapter eleven...Lazarus was dead for four days and then Jesus raised him from the dead...
It would have been such an interesting conversation to have with the "alive again" Lazarus...
I wonder how and what Lazarus thought about this???...I wonder if he wanted to be raised from the dead???...Why would he fear the people who would be trying to kill him???...He had already tasted death...Was he ready to leave this world again and quickly???...
Was Lazarus now closer to Jesus???...We know his two sisters, Martha and Mary were saddened about his death and that Jesus had comforted the two...Did Lazarus have a different outlook on life now???...Did he feel different about his sisters and family???...
What great questions, would have been ask in the house of the raised Lazarus...St. John does not complete the story of Lazarus, but we know Lazarus will die again...
What we do know about the raised Lazarus is that Jesus waited four days until he raised him, so we know he was dead...Jesus has the power and glory to do anything in our world...He has divine power over life...Others (new and old followers of Jesus) were putting their faith in Jesus, because He had raised Lazarus...
There is grief and sadness when a friend and family member dies, as when Jesus wept in John 11:35 (for Lazarus, as He identifies with the sadness of Mary and Martha)...We know Jesus has power over death... Jesus overcomes death...Jesus gives us eternal life...Jesus comforted the sisters of Lazarus... Jesus comforts us...
Our God is a God of miracles...
