1 John 4:8
God is LOVE
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
John 13:31-38
Love One Another
31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once.
33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”
Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.”
37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!
Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
A God of LOVE...God is LOVE...He is the Source of LOVE...
After Judas left to betray Jesus, He gives us a great farewell lesson about loving one another to the Eleven remaining Disciples...It is like He is transcending time with His Words and is speaking from heaven above...He is ready to leave earth and will soon be going back to heaven...These are words for all followers of His two thousand years ago and even today, they transcend time...Jesus says, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in Him...If God is glorified in Him, God will glorify the Son in Himself, and will glorify Him at once...“My children, I will be with you only a little longer...You will look for Me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I AM going, you cannot come...“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another...By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”...
Jesus teaches all about love...And these words show His love...Over time many, many things are extinguished, gone or have worn out...But His teachings on God and Love have passed and surpass the test of time...His philosophy of God, LOVE, and neighbor are forever linked in His teachings...
If man loved God and his neighbor as Jesus teaches in the Greatest Commandment, things in the world would be very different...Even Peter who loved Jesus would deny Him three times before His death...Mankind is burdened by an instinct or thought or the way of self-preservation...Jesus was not burdened by this...He was not burdened in His thinking that power, or wealth, or the accumulation of material things are what makes one successful or gives one his or her security in life...Jesus LOVED first and last...He always was LOVING...Jesus says God and LOVE are the security we need...He is full of LOVE, because He is LOVE...His teachings of love fill the world with promise and potential and hope...Jesus was completely self-giving in His LOVE...
When we lack love toward each other, we are lacking in life...If man treated every neighbor in a more loving way, the way Jesus teaches us, it would make the world a much closer place and be much more like it should be and could be...The world would be a better place if we loved one another and followed the Two Greatest Commandments...The world would be in harmony if every man loved every neighbor...And the world would be in Complete Harmony if every man loved God and each and every neighbor...
