Psalm 56:8
God Records our Tears
8 Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll — are they not in your record?
John 11:32-36
Jesus Weeps for His Friend Lazarus
32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked.
“Come and see, Lord,” they replied.
35 Jesus wept.
36 Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!”
Revelation 21:1-8
New Heaven and a New Jerusalem
1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
We sometimes cry when we are sad…We usually weep when we are hurt or sad...Weeping is a response to this hurt or to this sadness we have...So we are showing a hurt or a sadness when we have tears…DNA now shows that each of our tears are unique and our teardrops can identify us from others…You and each of us have our own individual tears…So God knows when we are sad…God keeps a record of our tears, and writes them in His scrolls…Our tears are personal, our tears show our personal sadness, and our tears are a part of our uniqueness...
Jesus knows what it is to weep…He wept when He lost His friend Lazarus to death…We often cry and grieve when a family member or friend dies…And Jesus did weep with the family…Jesus wept with Lazarus’ sister Mary…
Someday there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away...There will be a new order of things...God will then be with us, and He will wipe every tear from our eyes...We will be His people and He will be us, and He will be our God...He is the One who comforts and soothes us...He will give us a peace, not felt here on earth...Every tear will be wiped away by Him...We will then be in heaven...
