John 17:3
Now This is Eternal Life
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 11:25-26
Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
John 3:5-15
Understanding Heavenly Things
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
9 “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.
10 “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? 11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
Lean Not on Your Own Understanding
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
John 14:1-4
Jesus Will Go and Prepare a Room in Heaven for His Disciples After His Death
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Jesus tells us that eternal life is to know the only true God and Jesus, the One that God sent to earth to teach us...He also tells us that He is the resurrection and the life...And then He says the ones who believe in Him will live, even though they will die on earth; and whoever lives by believing in Him will never die, but have eternal life...And when He was teaching these very things to Mary, He ask her, "Do you believe this?”...And I believe that He asks us this question too...And as He was talking about these things He of heaven and eternal life, He says so very frankly, and as a matter of fact...This is because He understands and knows about eternal life...Jesus even promised His Disciples a room in His Father's house in heaven, after His departure from earth...
Throughout the gospels, Jesus teaches us about the eternities...I have a problem relating to the eternities, heaven, and eternal life...I see more of the impermanence of our lives on earth, and how we are born, live out a life on earth, and then we die...It is difficult for me to envision heaven, and those things beyond this earthly chasm...In my way of thinking, and using my understanding, I find it hard to grasp heaven and these eternities...Jesus teaches us that there is "more" to life than just this life, and it is in these things I do not understand...But for this "more" to happen, we have to believe in Him...So if we believe in Him, there is this "more" to being born, living, and dying -there is this something that we do not understand, and it is eternal life, eternity, life after death...Jesus teaches us that there is life after death and a heaven, when we believe in Him...
Jesus taught on the subject of eternities and of heaven to Nicodemus one night many years ago...Nicodemus listened acutely and questioned Him, and he had questions...And they were questions of understanding on what Jesus was saying...Jesus told Nicodemus that he was one of Israel's teacher, and he could not understand the eternal terms of being born again...And like Nicodemus I know little about being born again, but we know that being born is by its very nature is bringing someone or something into a new life, a new beginning...Like when we were born from our mother's womb...Jesus teaches we can begin again, be born again, even after death...After death, and being born again, we will have a new life, a new beginning, with a new perspective, and a new direction, with maybe no ending...Maybe an eternal ending with the One who is the resurrection and the life...A life with the One who knows all about the infinite eternal life and understands theses heavenly ways...Maybe there is a beginning, with no ending to life...A birth, a life, a rebirth, and an eternal life...We are taught that when we have faith and trust in God and His understanding, life is permanent for the believer in Jesus...
