John 13:34-35
Love Each Other
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 15:9-17
Love Each Other
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.
Luke 10:25-27
Love God and Love Neighbor for Eternal Life
25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”
27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Jesus teaches us this command...It at the time of His teaching, He says is a new command...And it is to love one another...Or as He says later, it is to love each other...In this command, it goes further than to just love your neighbor or those close or next to you...We are to love one another wherever we are and to love each other in all cases...We are to love our enemies and the neighbors which call us strife and despair...As Jesus LOVES us, we are to love one another...So you must love one another...By this everyone will know that you are a disciple of Jesus, if you love one another...
We are eternally tied to loving each other and to loving God, if we are disciples of Jesus...Jesus says, inheriting eternal life, is forever tied to loving God and loving neighbor...
And maybe we are one of the "unlovable" neighbors in somebody's eyes...And yet God LOVES us, even the "unlovable" neighbor...This is what God does...
