The group (Jake Adams, Luke Lawton and Jake Seward) communicated through mostly teams and socially during college hours.
At first, we decided to think of names for the game that we would be ultimately creating for the final product. We created a group on teams so that we could share files such as props and textures created so that we could transfer between maya and unreal engine. We also used the chat to share ideas and communicate outside of college hours to make timing more efficient.
We needed to create an original map in unreal engine. This was tasked to Jake Seward. Me and Jake S, both working on unreal engine, looked through multiple referenced online and decided to make the last level of the game a wasteland styled map.
Luke made a tree model for Jake S to import into his level that fit the theme of wasteland.
After having a discussion with Luke Lawton, we decided to create a model for the tank enemy which would involve me exporting the normal AI model from unreal engine 5 and giving it to Luke to modify in Maya which he then exported to me once he was satisfied with the changes. However, the new model suffered from some incompatibility issues in Unreal Engine as the model was changed but it did not counter gameplay or make gameplay mechanics
For the final product, I shared the level's playthroughs to Luke and Jake S to ensure that they could share them on their blogs so the examiners can see how their efforts have been implemented into the level's final designs.
Luke personally sent me models and textures which I implemented into the game.
All these props were added into the level's design as either a interactable feature or as a still object, examples of these are the ray gun and tree models
I also shared my evaluation with the group so that Luke and Jake could put this onto their blogs (with them citing that this is not their own work) as a way to show my evaluation on their blogs. This way, we can see how the experience was different for each member and reflect on each opinion individually.
This also allowed us all to look through problems each member faced and educate ourselves on how to overcome these problems in the future.
