The target audience of the platformer is 12 - 16 years old. This means the game could have light violence / language since an audience of this age range fits with these themes.
This audience range would benefit off vibrant colours and less cartoonish themes due to their age.
The platformer will have 2 iconic game mechanics that the players can utilize. The mechanics are double jumping and dashing. With double jumping, players can jump in the air after a recent jump, meaning they can gain more altitude and more distance to progress through levels. The dash allows players to move left or right quickly, making it useful as it can be used to dodge hazards or can be combined with the double jump to maximize the distance they can travel.
The first feature I would add to the game is Double Jump. This feature would be able to happen once a player has jumped once off the floor and whilst they are still in the air.
The second feature I would add to the game is a Dash. The dash would happen once the player double taps the key A or D, and dashing left or right.
