William Geoffrey Pimlott (‘Bill’) was born in 1945 and brought up in Warrington Lancashire. After education at the local Grammar School and Birmingham University, he qualified as a solicitor in 1970 and spent his working life in private practice. Came to live on the Isle of Wight in 1978 and joined the Island Sailing Club in 198? when he took up sailing for the first time. His father-in-law was Dr Frank Lang, a distinguished previous commodore. Sailed mostly in the Solent and local waters, for some years owned a Tomahawk 25.
