Moderating a language table at the Sprachencafé or tutoring for refugee/migrant children or adults

with Katharina Kurzmann and Anabel Kappus Vila, Kontaktepool by Wiener Hilfswerk

Organization: The mission of Kontaktepool (Wiener Hilfswerk) is to create an exchange between different cultures by providing guidance through tutoring and learning support, as well as educational and social events for immigrants and educationally disadvantaged women with children.

Research project and requirements: Kontaktepool (Wiener Hilfswerk) offers internships for dedicated, communicative and reliable volunteers who are interested in leading an English (or other language) conversation table or tutoring individual students in a diverse and multilingual environment. Therefore, excellent communication skills are required, as well as open-mindedness towards new people and situations. Kontaktepool is looking for team players (while co-working with the staff of Sprachencafé) who are capable of working independently: self-sufficiently preparing and leading the conversation tables or tutoring classes. If you decide to offer individual tutoring classes advanced German skills will be highly appreciated. 

Required background: Students across a variety of academic disciplines who are interested in sharing their knowledge and gaining teaching experience. Possible fields are (but not limited to): English, German, Mathematics, Science, etc. For subjects other than English, basic German skills are required.

TV and multimedia production from up close: learn the multi-faceted craft of modern journalism and editorial work

with Elisabeth Pfneisl and Marlies Faulend, Maging Directors and Founders of HolyScreen Media

Organization: HolyScreen Media is a young TV production company and multimedia agency that combines longstanding journalist expertise with excellent audiovisual realization for digital platforms and broadcast TV. HolyScreen Media conducts production from the first ideas and drafts to the broadcast and translates complex issues into comprehensible and innovative formats. The company provides an interesting insight into all the different areas of TV production and current topics in the spotlight.

Potential project tasks:

  • Self-contained research analysis and quest for topics

  • Support for the organization and coordination of production tasks

  • Provision of permission to film and release forms

  • Communication with the protagonists of the shoots

  •  Preparation and accompaniment of shootings

  • Clipping (inspection of material)

  • Transcription of interviews

  • Writing of texts for the press and the internet

  • Provision of props

  • Editorial assistance

  • Support with travel bookings (accommodation, mobility)

  • Support with the organization and coordination of the post-production


Preferred background/requirements: 

  • Interest in politics, crime and societal topics

  • No fear of complex research, phone calls, and making new contacts

  • First editorial experiences in the areas TV, film, print or radio broadcasting

  • Versed in computer competencies

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe InDesign

  • German language skills are beneficial, but not mandatory

Explore Vienna’s vibrant off-theatre scene and work with public relations 

with Alina Hainig, Communications, Kosmos Theater

Organization: Kosmos Theater, an independent feminist theater located in Vienna’s 7th district, Neubau, was founded in 2002. It specializes in contemporary plays, with a particular emphasis on works by female playwrights and socio-critical themes. The theater also collaborates with local off-theater collectives, contributing to Vienna’s diverse cultural landscape. 

Potential project tasks:

  • Supporting the organization and coordination of public relations 

  • Learning the processes and routines of production meetings, with a focus on the specific workflows and communication strategies of a niche local theater

  • Preparing and accompanying productions and performances

  • Translating materials

  • Providing editorial support

  • Contributing to program design

  • Assisting with graphic design

  • Assisting during theater performances and events


Preferred background/requirements: 

  • Interest in feminist perspectives, politics, and social issues

  • Enthusiasm for contemporary theater practices

  • Willingness to express your opinions and seek help when needed

  • Advanced German language skills are mandatory

Support for the  Wien Museum

with Matti Bunzl, Director of Vienna's municipal museum

Organization: The Wien Museum (since 1887) is an open house, committed to a pluralistic, cosmopolitan, and progressive society. The beautifully renovated institution is an incredible cultural resource and inspiring place for both Viennese residents and international visitors.

The museum’s collection comprises well over a million objects, from the most mundane everyday objects to rare, precious, high-quality art and items. Spanning the entire history of Vienna, it is among the most comprehensive holdings of any city museum. The institution is committed to expanding, preserving, and researching this extraordinary collection.

Education forms another pillar of the Wien Museum’s focus. The institution strives to ensure maximum accessibility across all its platforms: exhibitions, events, publications, and digital offerings. It also aims to play an active role in Vienna’s public sphere, inviting individuals and communities to help represent the city in all its diversity.


Potential project tasks:

  • Support for the museum within the education department and/or

  • Assistance for the marketing department

  • Other tasks regarding museology or archeology are possible depending on the  aspirations and qualifications of the candidate


Preferred background:

  • Interest in history, art, museology, politics, and societal topics

  • Background in education, German studies, history, art, or marketing

  • C1 German language skills are required
