Information for Consumers

At this time we are aware of the following opportunities for people who clutter (or those interested in cluttering):

Please consider visiting and becoming member of the online support Facebook group for persons who clutter (managed by Sr. Carol Mary Nolan): Cluttering Speech

My name is Sister Carol Mary Nolan. I am a Carmelite Sister for the Aged and Infirm, and I have had a speech problem since childhood. Most of the time now my speech is pretty good, managing well the disfluencies that come along. I explain to people that it takes me longer to respond to questions.

On March 11, 2009, I founded the Facebook group, ”Cluttering Speech,” to help spread the word about cluttering and to form an online support group for those persons who clutter. A year later in 2010, I wrote a paper, “Cluttering Speech: A Facebook Social Network for Persons Who Clutter” for the first International Cluttering Online Conference, giving information about how the group was progressing in the first year. In the years since, membership has grown steadily to 747. Top countries include the United States, United Kingdom, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Canada, Philippines, Argentina, Australia, and Italy. We have had many active discussions over the years. People ask how to get assistance for cluttering; students ask for help in doing their projects. One of the latest posts was about “delayed auditory feedback.” Others post articles and videos about various topics in speech, including courses they are giving on fluency disorders. What I do as the administrator of the group is to share news of cluttering. One of the biggest news items this year is the Inaugural Joint World Congress (the International Cluttering Association, the International Fluency Association, the International Stuttering Association) being held July 13-16 in Hiroshima, Japan. I recently had the pleasure to participate in the “Stuttering is Cool” podcast, episode 221, “What is Cluttering?” created in honor of the upcoming Congress. Many thanks to Daniele Rossi the host, and Charley Adams who also participated with me.

I would like to thank all the members for joining and contributing to the group. All are invited and all are welcome to join. You do need a Facebook account first.
