If you’re taking visual arts, CAS is a great way to expand your creativity beyond the classroom. Since the visual arts course is hands-on and project-based, it works really well with CAS experiences that connect to your interests in making, sharing, or teaching art.
Your CAS experiences should be meaningful, personal, and challenging in a good way, and visual arts students often find that their creative CAS projects become some of the most rewarding parts of their DP journey. But remember visual arts students can NOT reuse the artworks they created in the course for their CAS.
Here are a few examples of how visual arts can be part of your CAS:
Creativity: Create a mural for a local community space, start an online art challenge, or design posters for an environmental awareness campaign.
Activity: Collaborate on a large-scale art installation that involves movement, like chalk festivals or interactive public artworks.
Service: Volunteer to lead art workshops for children, seniors, or underserved groups in your community.
You can do one-time events or long-term projects, as long as it’s not something you're already using for your visual arts course. CAS experiences must be separate from your official course assessments.
Think of CAS as a space to explore new ways of using your artistic skills to connect with others, take on challenges, and make an impact.
