A first glimpse into our school

Hello guys! We are sixteen-year-old students and we represent the first High School of Agios Athanasios, Thessaloniki – Greece.

Thessaloniki, Greece

Thessaloniki is the second biggest city of our country and it is located in the North of Greece. Also, its main monument is the White Tower.

Our School

Firstly, High School in Greece is the last step before University and it is consisted of 3 grades. Moreover, our school year lasts from September to June. The lessons start at 8 in the morning until 2am.

Basic Rules

Students in our school are both males and females and they should follow some rules.
Students must not use mobile phones or gadgets of this kind.
There is no dress code, so students can wear whatever they want.
Students must behave properly.
Students must keep school clean.

There are 15 subjects at the first grade. Some of the most important subjects are:

Customs and Traditions

Easter

It is a religious celebration, in which we celebrate The Resurrection of Jesus. So, schools break up for holidays, for two weeks. During this time, people go to church, decorate the house and stain eggs red. We also follow a 40-days fasting.

Carnival

The concept is the same as Halloween’s. We throw masque parties and we get dressed with costumes.

Souvlaki- Pieces of pork or chicken meat on a stick:

Gyros - Pieces of pork or chicken meat in a piece of bread with other ingredients:

Baklavas - It is a desert that includes nuts and syrup:
