While some of these upgrades, such as different slides or barrels, are mostly of interest to competitive shooters, there are a number of upgrades that will make any trip to the range more fun. Glock 27 Gen 4
Extended Slide Stop
One of the first modifications many Glock users make is the extended slide stop. The traditional Glock slide stop on most from-the-factory Glocks is nearly vertical and can be difficult to hit as you reload. The extended slide stop adds a small horizontal piece of metal that makes the slide stop much easier to hit with your thumb. It is a small difference, but it is significant if you are trying to improve your reloading time from a slide lock back. If you prefer using the slide stop instead of racking the slide, it can improve your timing.
Extended Mag Release
Many Glocks from Gen 4 and Gen 5 already have an extended mag release, but they were not standard at the start of Gen 4, and previous generations did not come with an extended mag release. This makes it much easier to hit the mag release, especially if you have smaller hands.
Fiber Optic or Night Sights
The stock sights on a Glock leave a lot to be desired. They are a very basic “U” in the back and a white dot on the front post. Instead, you should upgrade with either fiber optic sights or night sights that use tritium. You will want a three-dot configuration for night sights that will make it easier to light up quickly. For competition, you may want a fiber-optic sight that uses the ambient light of an area to make a bright red or green dot for a front post.
Mag Base Plates
Swapping out mag base plates on smaller Glocks, such as the Glock 27 Gen 4, can give you a better grip, giving your pinky finger something to hold onto. An improved grip can help you be more accurate, and is perfect for those who want to carry but struggle to get a good grip on smaller or mid-size Glocks. You can instead also opt for mag extenders that add an extra round or two.
