The Maid and the Crocodile
Jordan Ifueko
Harry N. Abrams
You don’t have to have read the Raybearer series in order to appreciate this touching story of Small Sade.
Taking place in the same world, Small Sade has had a rough life. After the death of her mother, she was forced to work in factories, ultimately getting an injury that deformed her foot and left her having to use a cane. But, she is determined to get a job as a maid and support herself.
Here’s where things go off the rails. Sade binds herself to the Crocodile, a god who eats pretty girls. What she soon realizes is that, in fact, he is a cursed man.
And it just so happens that Small Sade is a curse eater!
With beautiful writing and a delightful found family, we follow Sade and she stands up for herself and for all people in Oluwan City who deserve to be treated with respect.
