Sebastian “Bash” Villeda is a senior track star dealing with the grief of losing his mother. Allessandro “Sandro” Micelli is the youngest son in his loud Italian-American family and too quiet for his rangy body. He’s a field team captain, throws an awesome shot put, and struggles with his encroaching body hair and lack of parental involvement. Their random connection at a party grows into an unexpected and complicated love that defies odds and stereotypes. This one will require Kleenex.

Discussion questions
The Long Run tell the simultaneous stories of Bash & Sandro's self-discovery. Discuss how their journeys are similar but also different.
James Acker says this is a book about asking his teen self to live "in the moment, not for the moment". What does this mean? How can you see that in the novel?
If you could revise your own teenage story, what would you include, add, edit, and how would that change your sense of living in the moment?
