Rebecca Ross grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where she soon became a voracious reader and longed to find a portal to Narnia. That quest eventually led her to the University of Georgia, where she graduated with her degree in English. Before she dared to take her writing seriously, she worked at a Colorado dude ranch, as a school librarian, and as a live-time captionist for a college. At the end of 2014, she had an epiphany where she saw herself as a seventy-year-old mortal who had never dedicated herself to writing, despite the fact that it had always been her first love. The image was striking–a regret in the making–and Rebecca began to follow her childhood aspiration of writing a novel and becoming published, as impossible as it sounded. Working a full-time job, she carved out the time to write on weekends, in the evenings, in the pre-dawn hours, and on lunch breaks. Page by page, a novel soon came together. It was a messy first attempt of a fantasy book, riddled with cliches and tropes, but a good trial run. On a cold January night in 2015, she began to write The Queen’s Rising after envisioning a young woman sitting in a sun-drenched library with a stern (but handsome) young man. Rebecca had no other choice but to devote herself to this scene, discovering the story, the characters, and the world as she wrote. Within 48 days, she had a first draft. Little did she know that Brienna’s story was destined to change her life. Rebecca is now the New York Times best selling and acclaimed author of fantasy novels for both teen and adult readers alike, and her works include Divine Rivals, The Queen’s Rising, The Queen’s Resistance, Sisters of Sword & Song, Dreams Lie Beneath, A River Enchanted, and A Fire Endless. Her books have been published in thirteen languages, reaching readers around the globe, and have received starred trade reviews. A coffee addict with a penchant for vintage typewriters, old postage stamps, and all things hand-lettered, she lives with her husband and a frisbee-addicted Australian Shepherd in the Appalachian foothills of Northeast Georgia, where she grows an abundance of weeds in her garden as well as wildflowers and new story ideas.
