The Weight of Blood

Maddy has always kept to herself, trying to stay out of the way of the bullies.  But one day, the thing she’s been avoiding her entire life--with dire consequences from her racist and abusive father--happens.  Maddy gets caught in the rain.  And now everyone knows her secret.  Maddy is biracial.

What starts as bullying turns extremely racist, and when a video of popular students’ racist behavior leaks, the high school must come to terms with another racist holdover--their segregated prom.  

Prom is often a party to remember, but in this Carrie retelling, people will pay to party with their lives.
