Lisa Zinnel - ask to reimburse the 5th grade residency
Discussion on fundraiser for school dance
Lisa withdraws the statement - good conversation that came from it.
Alyssa Olness would like to make the motion to pay the remainder of the residency payments due following the completion of the current fundraising efforts up to $1855. This would potentially dip into our savings. In favor - 3. Opposed - 4. Was not approved.
Kate Krietcher - ideas for fundraising. They are short for paying their residency. The artist increased her fees. It wasn’t a part of the allocation. The artists had agreed that she will do it at 50% the pay. The shortfall is $3000.
Motion to approve the 2024 - 2025 budget, motion made by Julie Marquardt Graham Martin seconded Votes in favor - 18, Votes against - 0. Budget passes.
Voting on PTA Exec Team
Motion to nominate Pondie Taylor for President by Graham Martin. 18 in favor. None opposed. Pondie Taylor is the next PTA President.
Motion to nominate Hanan Zavala for Treasurer by Julie Marquardt. Seconded by Graham Martin. 21 votes. None opposed
Motion to nominate Stephanie Anderson for Secretary by Julie Marquardt. Seconded by Maren Olsen. 17 votes. None opposed.
Motion to add the position of Vice President to the bylaws. 17 votes in favor.
Motion to edit bylaws to add Graham Martin as VP made by Kira Applehans. Seconded by Julie Marquardt. 18 votes in favor
Discussion on future School Climate Committee
Kira - read the email that Jake sent her this afternoon. St Paul Federation of Educators has language in there about the future School Climate Committee.
Committee will meet once a month to discuss a wide range of topics at school.
There will be a committee or council at each campus.
This is not affiliated with the PTA. Kira and Alyssa have volunteered for Upper Campus.
Lisa - in discussion about site councils. Representatives should reflect the community of the school. How best to reach members that are representative of our students. Maybe flyers will be sent home with students.
Jennifer Mulligan - their family would be interested in participating if they need someone.
Ms. Bourgoyne - Principals report. HMH is new math and will continue to be the math for next year. Teachers will be giving feedback. Student Climate survey was completed at both campuses. Working on attendance goals. Next years SKIP - same components For the school budget - send questions to Ms. Bourgoyne ahead of time. lynn.bourgoyne@spps.org
Family Engagement - Ms. Dennis. Family-School Compact. School family agreement. How we are going to work together to educate our children? Lower campus school compact could be different next year. This is a mandatory meeting with families
Messaging about attendance.
Free Educational opportunities that are not ipad related
Anticipating that parents will work with teachers to partner to solve problems.
Email opportunity to let admin know how to report attendance
Achieve individual success. Encourage your student to work to the best of the ability and goals.
More regular communication from admin would be great. Maybe a state of the school email.
Welcoming event for families in September
With the new decision to have new administrators. There are things that have to happen next year. The new principal can decide how they want to handle it next year. Right now this is the family engagement plan for Upper and Lower.
