1. Keep most items the same.  No cuts for staff reimbursement, health office, artist residencies

2. Direct Ask - send postcard size info about Direct Ask home with students, instead of mailing a letter, saving $400

3. Reduce the amount for the following areas  - staff recognition (having families provide potluck foods rather than buying from a restaurant), childcare (use parent volunteers for any in person meetings), Carnival expenses

4. We are thinking to leave $10,000 because we don’t know what fundraisers will happen next year.

1. Principal’s Report - Principal Jones

   1. Budget Season - transitioning to 2 principals next year. Working on the budget as we have in the past. Information will be shared later in the month. Community meeting will be held separate from PTA for discussion about where we landed with the budget. It is a lot more directed and guided by the district with less flexibility. The district is no longer funding certain positions. Staff will be informed first. Michelle Klemmer - will we have extra funding as a magnet

   2. Kira - what can parents do to advocate for the arts at Global Arts schools. Parents can reach out to Dr. Morris. How much time do we have to advocate for our budget concerns? Principal Jones will have until the end of next week to approve. 

4. Site Council Update - Jake Anderson

   1. Just received the full language for this today. Will be taking about it in the next couple of week. There is a role the PTA will play to get things going.  The negotiations went the best that they have in a long time. Minimum of 8 people. One will be the administrator, 3 SPFE and 3 Parent/Community Members. Potential for a TA. PTA is going to work on an election process to get 3 parents on the council and there will be 3 parents at each campus. Union steward elections will be coming up.

   2. Potentially meet once a month

   3. Hard choices - site council is another way for an administrator to say we made this choice together

   4. Members will serve 2 years

5. Kate Krietcher - ideas for fundraising. They are short for paying their residency. The artist increased her fees. It wasn’t a part of the allocation. The artists ha agreed that she will do it at 50% the pay. The residency is Jonan - Haitian art and culture. The shortfall is $3000.

8. Nominations for PTA officers for 2024 - 2025 school year

   1. If there are no officers by June, the MN PTA recommends disbanding the PTA until it can be started again.  The MN PTA would “hold” the money currently in our bank account in a MOU “memorandum of understanding” to ensure the dollars stay with the school.
