Why everyone should incorporate low impact exercises in their routines.

As a fitness enthusiast, Garry Y. Itkin always tries to look at the bigger picture when designing a program for himself and others. He studies various workout routines and creates new ones using the elements he believes are effective.

In today’s world, with all the hardcore lifting and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) programs being all the rage, it’s not that hard to overlook low impact exercises. But the thing is, these kinds of exercises are important to the overall efficiency of a regimen.

Here are some reasons low impact training is important.

Joint care: Low impact exercises take care of a person’s joints. This is especially true for people who love to go hard in training, such as CrossFit and boxing. Substituting a HIIT or boxing session once a week with swimming or even yoga can delay the deterioration of joints when one reaches old age.

Great for specific people: There are some people such as seniors and those suffering from obesity who may not benefit from hard or high-impact workouts. People who have also undergone surgery or who’ve experienced injuries may also be a lot better off with low impact exercises.
