This page contains the information surrounding the period known as the Dawn Age in Gaia.
The Dawn Age is the first age of Gaia. During this time, the Deities of Order created the first races to ever live in Gaia, known as The First Ones. These races existed in peace for many years (it is actually unknown how long The First Ones inhabited Gaia before the arrival of The First Men), and worshiped the many Deities of Order.
Gaia at this time consisted of only one continent, Caldron, while the rest of the world's surface was covered with vast and deep oceans. The First Ones quickly spread throughout Caldron, each inhabiting a section of the continent and built the first settlements and civilizations. Some took to the sandy beaches in the West, some took to the damp swamps in the South, while others took to the bitter cold reaches in the far North. Life at this time flourished and peace was upheld.
After an unknown amount of time, the Deities of Order decided to reward their creations' devotion to them by giving them three more continents to explore and cultivate. These continents are Tal'Dorei, Tammemar, and Docros. Quickly after the creation of these continents, the First Ones created the first ships and sailed across the blue seas to inhabit these now foreign lands. For many more years, The First Ones procreated an all four continents, increasing the following of the Deities of Order and spreading relics and memorials all across Gaia.
However, the Deities of Chaos grew more and more upset at the fact that The Deities of Order had been expanding their following, and ultimately increasing their power, while they scoured the empty cosmos fighting in power struggles and petty skirmishes amongst themselves. To remedy this, the Deities of Chaos decided they would create creatures in their image to rival The First Ones and grow their following too. These creatures were known as The First Men, and they mainly consisted of the common races seen in Gaia today (Humans, Elves, Orcs, Goblins, etc.).
These First Men arrived in Caldron around 1,200 BC (BC = before conquest), and soon after began to fight The First Ones for control over land and resources. Over time, the First Men expand into the other continents, bringing with them an insatiable desire to conquer, kill, and imperialize.
This insatiable desire resulted in nearly 200 years of fighting, death, and pillaging. Towards the end of the fighting, the First Men controlled pretty much all of Gaia, secluding the First Ones to remote lands and reaches of the continents they once dominated. The First Ones were hunted to almost complete extinction, with the survivors of this war being allied in some way with the First Men, or migrating away from conflict. The Deities of Chaos, proud of what they had created, gifted the First Men the continent of The Green Isles, filled with a plethora of spices, minerals, plants, animals, and metals that would be unique to the continent. The Green Isles quickly became a favorite continent for the First Men and at one point was the most populous despite its small size.
At the very end of the Dawn Age, the Deities of Order became very angry with the near destruction of their precious creations, and as a result started a war with the Deities of Chaos. The war resulted in the destruction of The Green Isles, separating the once congruent continent into tiny sized, rocky islands. Those First Men that remained became isolated from the rest of the world along with their unique spices and other goods.
