This page lists the Lesser Gods and Idols in Gaia.
The Lesser Gods in Gaia are mighty heroes or leaders that, through their actions and sacrifices, have ascended to lesser godhood. Being a lesser god simply means that you are immortal, however, not all-powerful. In fact, most lesser gods derive their powers from Gods and Goddesses as payment for their unending servitude to them and are often considered to have a microcosm of their master's true power. Additionally, Lesser Gods cannot pass the Divine Gates and are bound to the non-Divine planes of existence.
The road to becoming a Lesser God is not a direct one, and it is very difficult to achieve as many have tried and failed to ascend. Once ascended though, it is possible, albeit very, very difficult, to continue ascension into actual godhood. There has only ever been one (rumored) case of this, and that is with the Raven Queen. As a Lesser God, it is common to gain a following, and once this following grows in size enough, then the Lesser God can attempt ascension by overthrowing his or her master.
Lesser Gods are fairly common in Gaia and are worshiped in many different facets across the continents. Some hold more of a cult-like following, while others follow much of the practices of a standard religion. Clusters of their followers may exists sporadically across the world, and need not be located in one, single area. In general, believing in these beings is not looked at very positively, and in some cases, worship has been made illegal; they often get the rep of being more of a cult leader than a form of a god or goddess.
In any case, it cannot be denied the power these beings hold, especially in recent times since society is slowing moving away from religion and more towards magic and technology.
