Shem

Appearance

Most of the time, Shem was shown from an odd angle or dark lighting. All that's known regarding his appearance is that he was a frail, old man in a wheelchair. He later inhabited the body of an unnamed magic user who helped the sages; this new appearance was 6'2", muscular, and had long, black hair.

Personality

Shem was a man with boundless ambition, going to any means to accomplish his dream. He used tactics like intimidation and manipulation on people, such as Chloe during their talk. He's known to be ruthless, being the one behind The Tragedy of the Seven Sages. It's revealed he was alive during the events of the bible story Exodus, meaning he was at least 3,650 years old.

Despite his ruthless behavior, Shem did genuinely care for Dr. Buzz, who was loyal to him, and Rhiannon, who he saw as a daughter. He also cared for Rosanna, and was heartbroken upon discovering her betrayal.

History

Shem's life goes as far back as experiencing the Bible story, Exodus, firsthand. He was banished from the Israelite tribe after using magic, which was deemed blasphemous.

His biggest aspiration became to create an immortality spell, but it presented immense difficulties, as its forbidden nature not only made it extraordinarily difficult to create, but it needed all existing magic types in unison to work. Whenever Shem would get old, he would use Inhabit, a spell that transfers his mind to another's body. When Inhabit is used on someone, their mind is effectively 'evicted,' and they die.
