Sam

Appearance

Sam is a tall, young teenager with a slender build. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. In the Sam & Alexis mainline comics, she was depicted with her hair worn down, but later depictions show her with her hair tied back into a ponytail. Her usual outfit consists of a white shirt with long, black sleeves, and light blue jeans. Her shoes were never consistent, with a character sheet saying she wears Timberland shoes, but in the comics, she was drawn with the same colored-in shoes that many Generation 1 characters had.

Personality

Sam is an energetic young girl, though she's usually shown to be somewhat shy and reserved without her best friend around. She was originally designed to be a "teenage girl stereotype," but later evolved into a more three-dimensional character over the course of Sam & Alexis' run (somewhat).

History

Sketches of both Sam and Alexis were first made in a school notebook, where Gaboza aimed to make a story poking fun at the types of students he'd encountered on a daily basis. She went through a few minor design changes, such as originally being depicted with Alexis' more almond-shaped eyes, before her design settled on the one she has now. In both real life by readers of the Sam & Alexis series, as well as in canon, Sam's popularity typically played second fiddle to Alexis'. 

In In Your Imagination! (Remake), Sam's jealousy showed, not through contempt for her friend, but rather shifted the blame to Gaboza, noting how his stories would often feature duos where one character is significantly more liked than the other (likely also in reference to Strings of Fate). Sam was revealed as the crown thief, but later had it taken away from her before being put in a prison in the Imagination Hub.
