Lesson 7: The Reciprocal Mapping and the Extended Complex Plane

Preview

Today we’ll finish our discussion of complex mappings. We’ll discuss the reciprocal function and how we can view its operation on a point z as a composition of two other operations (Module I). This discussion will lead us to consider adding infinity to C, which we’ll do by using a clever mapping of the sphere to the plane (Module II).
