On March 26, 2026, Acting Director of URIOF NAAS Pavlo Petik and Scientific Secretary Tetiana Matvieieva took part in the General Meeting of the members of the “Ukroliaprom” Association, which was held via videoconference. During the meeting, the participants discussed the performance of the oil and fat industry of Ukraine in the first quarter of 2026, as well as key aspects of the sector’s operation in the 2025/26 marketing year. Special attention was paid to the status of the review of national standards (DSTU) aimed at their harmonization with European requirements under martial law conditions. The “Ukroliaprom” Association informed participants about the progress of revising current standards in the field of oil and fat products. It was noted that in 2025 URIOF NAAS carried out a significant amount of work on the revision of 13 DSTU, which effectively acquired the status of new developments due to the extent of the amendments introduced. The work was financed through joint contributions from industry enterprises — members of the Association. Currently, the documentation is under consideration at State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research and Training Center for Standardization, Certification and Quality” and is being prepared for publication. At the same time, it was emphasized that the review of 56 DSTU, planned within a three-year period, has been complicated by the consequences of military actions. A significant number of enterprises in the sector have suffered shelling, financial losses, or have suspended their operations, particularly in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine. In this regard, the “Ukroliaprom” Association appealed to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine requesting state support (letter dated January 12, 2026, No. 15-07/02) or the postponement of the DSTU review deadlines until the end of martial law. A follow-up letter was sent on March 9, 2026, to the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine (No. 15-07/15). The appeal emphasizes the urgency of resolving this issue in order to prevent the cancellation of the existing standards.
From March 3 to 5, 2026, scientists of our institute completed intensive online advanced training courses hosted by the Institute of Oilseed Crops of NAAS. The main theme of the event was "Genetics, Breeding, Agrotechnology, and Processing of Oilseed Crops." Scientific personnel of the NAAS system, as well as academic staff from higher education institutions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, were invited to participate.
Over the course of three days, leading industry experts shared their experience in the latest breeding methods, phenotyping, the use of plant genetic resources, and innovations in the processing of niche crops. Special attention was paid to the peculiarities of growing sunflower and winter flax. The 30-hour training program (1 ECTS credit) concluded with a final test. Our employees successfully confirmed their high professional level and received the corresponding certificates. We continue to improve our knowledge for the innovative development of the oil and fat industry of Ukraine!
On 24 February, 2026, the Ukrainian Research Institute of Oils and Fats of the National academy of agrarian sciences of Ukraine has successfully passed international verification and has been officially included in the global Research Organization Registry (ROR). As part of the official database update (release v2.3), the Institute has been assigned a unique persistent identifier: :
📌 ROR ID: https://ror.org/0109mtm32
What is ROR and why is it important? ROR is an open international registry used by leading scientific publishers, databases (Scopus, Web of Science, Crossref), and grant foundations for the precise identification of research institutions. Obtaining this status confirms the Institute's transparency in the international arena and solves the long-standing problem of "lost" publications due to various English spellings of the name of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Oils and Fats of the National academy of agrarian sciences of Ukraine.
Instructions for scientific staff: Attention to all authors of scientific publications! From now on, the procedure for indicating affiliation (place of work) when submitting your articles to international journals is changing:
You no longer need to type the name of the Institute manually.
When filling in author data in article submission systems (e.g., Editorial Manager, ScholarOne), start typing the English name of the Institute in the "Organization/Affiliation" field.
The system will offer you a drop-down list. Be sure to select the option next to which the institution's ROR ID is listed: https://ror.org/0109mtm32
Using the ROR ID guarantees that your scientific achievements will be instantly and correctly credited both to your personal profile (via ORCID) and to the overall ranking of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Oils and Fats of the National academy of agrarian sciences of Ukraine in global scientometric databases.
On January 22, 2026, the Ukrainian Research Institute of Oils and Fats of the NAAS was included in the State Register of Scientific Institutions entitled to receive government support until December 31, 2030, within the period established based on the results of the state attestation (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 85 dated 22.01.2026, item 1, page 1 of the Annex).
On January 16, 2026, Acting Director of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Oils and Fats of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (UNIOF NAAS) and Program Leader Pavlo PETIK reported on the implementation of the NAAS Research Program No. 40 “Processing of Oilseed Crops. Oils and Fats” (“Oils and Fats”) for 2025 and for the overall period of 2021–2025. Within the framework of Research Program No. 40 in 2021–2025, the Ukrainian Research Institute of Oils and Fats of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, as the lead executing institution, ensured the implementation of two first-level tasks comprising 17 second-level tasks, including 6 fundamental and 11 applied ones. In particular, in 2025, 10 second-level tasks were completed, including 6 fundamental and 4 applied tasks. The implementation of the Program is aimed at providing scientific support for addressing priority tasks of innovative development of the agro-industrial sector in accordance with the Procedure for Forming the Research Agenda of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine for 2021–2025 and in order to implement the Priority Areas of Scientific Research of the NAAS for 2021–2025.
On 14 January 2026, the Institute’s staff took part in the webinar “Institutional Profiles in the Web of Science Core Collection: Opportunities and Benefits”, which was dedicated to an overview of the functionality of institutional profiles (Organization-enhanced profiles) in the Web of Science Core Collection database. During the event, participants became familiar with the possibilities for creating and managing institutional profiles, as well as with tools for monitoring an organization’s publication activity and analyzing citation data and scientometric indicators. The webinar covered the following topics:
the structure and key elements of an institutional profile;
methods for searching for and identifying an organization’s publications;
tools for data analysis and visualization;
opportunities for comparing scientometric indicators with those of other institutions;
practical recommendations for the correct attribution of publications.
As a result of participation in the webinar, the participants received certificates.
The knowledge gained will contribute to improving the quality of the Institute’s representation in international scientometric databases and enhancing the visibility of its publication activities.
