HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION 

The Ukrainian Research Institute of Oils and Fats was established in 1932 in the city of Kharkiv as the Institute of Fats in accordance with an order of the Council of People’s Commissars of the USSR. The institution was established at the Kharkiv Institute of Chemical Technology and was subordinated to the Ukrainian Trust of the Oil and Fat Industry. 

In 1937, the Institute was reorganized into the Central Research Laboratory. From 1956, it operated as the Ukrainian Research Institute of the Fat Industry, and since 1975 it has functioned as a branch of the All-Union Research Institute of Fats (Leningrad, now Saint Petersburg). 

Since 1991, the institution has been reorganized into the Ukrainian Research Institute of Oils and Fats. Since 2004, the Institute has been subordinated to the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences (UAAS), and since 2010 — to the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (NAAS).
