Ukrainian Research Institute of Oils and Fats of the National academy of agrarian sciences of Ukraine  (URIOF NAAS) is a state scientific institution that provides scientific and technical support to enterprises of the oil and fat industry of Ukraine. According to the results of the state attestation in the scientific field “Engineering and Technological Sciences”, URIOF NAAS has been classified as Group B (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 1360 dated October 15, 2025). 

The Institute comprises four structural units (the Department of Research on Oil Extraction Technology, the Department of Research on Oil and Fat Processing Technology, the Laboratory of Instrumental Analysis, and the Department of Scientific and Technical Information and Intellectual Property), whose activities cover the full range of tasks of the oil and fat industry. These include conducting fundamental and applied research to obtain new knowledge in fat technology, substance properties, and physicochemical processes aimed at developing advanced technologies for the production of oils, fats, and food products with enhanced biological value based on the deep processing of oilseed crops; research on the quality and safety of oil and fat products manufactured by enterprises of the oil and fat industry of Ukraine; regulatory and metrological support for enterprises of the oil and fat industry of Ukraine; technical modernization and reconstruction of oil and fat enterprises; as well as economic and marketing research for enterprises of the oil and fat industry.  The Laboratory of Instrumental Analysis of URIOF NAAS, accredited in accordance with the requirements of DSTU EN ISO/IEC 17025:2019 in the field of testing oils, fats, fat-like products, and products of their processing for safety and physicochemical parameters, provides methodological and practical support to enterprises of the oil and fat industry.

URIOF NAAS plays a key role in ensuring food security by actively developing regulatory documentation for oils, fats, and products of their processing. An important area of activity is the harmonization of standards with the international ISO system, which ensures the compliance of Ukrainian products with global requirements. On the basis of URIOF NAAS, the Technical Committee 86 “Oils, Fats and Products of Their Processing” (TC 86) operates, which is engaged in the development and updating of National Standards aligned with European norms. The activities of TC 86 are aimed at protecting the interests of both producers and consumers, as well as at addressing tasks related to the protection of human and animal life and health and the environment. 

URIOF NAAS publishes the proceedings “Innovative Technologies: Current Issues of Science and Practice” and the information and analytical bulletin “Oil and Fat Industry of Ukraine”.
