To effectively support the scientific activities of researchers during the war, Elsevier specialists have created an electronic resource center that provides Ukrainian researchers with the opportunity to register and gain free access to the company’s important research tools, including the abstracting and bibliographic database Scopus.
Clarivate has launched a dedicated page, #StandWithUkraine, which provides information for Ukrainian researchers, including those who were forced to relocate, regarding access to the company’s resources and relevant news. The company’s most well-known product is the scientific literature platform Web of Science, which includes 18 databases. The key scientometric database is the Web of Science Core Collection, containing abstract information from over 22,000 scientific journals across all fields of knowledge. To gain access to these resources, users need to complete the appropriate registration form, after which free access is granted for a certain period. Instructions for setting up remote access for displaced persons from Ukraine are available at the following link (from 7:20 minutes).
Since January 2023, Ukraine has been entitled to access full-text electronic resources on the Research4Life portal as a Group A country (free access), which will continue until the end of 2027. Our institution has been granted access to the international platform Research4Life. This provides our employees with access to one of the world's largest collections of scientific and technical literature from leading international publishers. Users will be able to work with full-text databases from any device connected to the Internet within the institution. Through the unified Research4Life portal, leading thematic collections are available, namely Hinari, OARE, GOALI, AGORA, and ARDI, covering a wide range of scientific fields – from medicine and ecology to agriculture, technology, and law. Obtaining access to Research4Life is a significant step in the development of our institution's scientific activities; it will contribute to improving research quality, expanding international cooperation, and integrating into the global scientific community. All employees are encouraged to actively use the new opportunities for research and professional development.
To organize access to the international scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science via the Research4Life platform, it is recommended to use the Access Organization Instructions for the mentioned platform. The instructions are published on the website of the State Scientific and Technical Library (SSTL) of Ukraine.
In addition, the Research4Life portal provides access to electronic collections of books and journals from international publishers, including Elsevier, Springer Nature, John Wiley & Sons, Taylor & Francis, Emerald, Sage Publications, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, IOP Publishing, and others.
The attention of users is drawn to the necessity of strictly adhering to the access rules: logging into the system must be performed during each session. The username and password are intended exclusively for use by the institution's employees and are not subject to distribution to third parties or open-access publication. The use of access outside the country is permitted only in cases stipulated by the license agreement. Systematic downloading of entire journals or books is strictly prohibited. Unauthorized use of resources may result in the termination of access for the institution, which is valid until December 31, 2030.
