Welcome to ESL PodcastLand, an intensive course designed for non-native English speakers interested in developing the skills needed for international communication. In this course, you will explore podcasts, texts, and media through authentic materials and specially designed materials for EFL/ESL students. You will expand your skills, research, and podcast production, develop local and global news stories, improve your vocabulary, and increase your listening and reading comprehension. The Week 1 module will provide you with the opportunity to develop supporting skills and learn about learning. In the Week 2 module, you will learn and practice describing and giving information about cities, countries, and other places. You will also learn more about cross-cultural communication, discuss stereotypes, social behaviors, and conversation tips. In the Week 3 module, you will discuss customs and habits across cultures, cultural values, hypothetical situations, wishes, and regrets. In the Week 4 module, you will discuss changes in lifestyles, analyze how changes affect people, and discuss attitudes toward changes. You will also talk about effective communicators, compare attitudes toward public speaking and language, and discuss appropriate language use and storytelling.
