Here are some common techniques. 

A     Put a tick ✅ beside the ones that you use. 

1. I write down the word and translate it into my own language. 

2. I keep a vocabulary notebook. 

3. I write down the word and then list all the words with a similar meaning. 

4. I make mind maps  of all the words that I can link to the new word. 

5. I write down the word and then write down another word with the opposite meaning. 

6. I make word sets by writing down lots of words under a general heading. 

7. I write the definition of the word in English. 

8. I try to make an example sentence that shows what it means. 

9. I write down the whole sentence that contains the new word.  I also write down all the new expressions that I like. 

10. I draw the word if I can or make a drawing and then label it.
