Website Inspiration
This first website I have found inspirational for my own business website as a photographer, however there are elements of her website that I think we should consider for the brief. This website is very visual and the opening page as a large slideshow which is very interactive and gives the user a good first impression on what they will find on the site. I also like the background colour being white as I think it is a very clean design and makes it look more professional.
The navigation bar is simple and easy to navigate which will help with user experience and there is also a video included on the site, which adds more to the different types of media given and the interactivity of the site.
She also has a small about information section which would be useful for our brief as we could give a small amount of information about Andrew Grant so that those who may visit the magazine for the content they may also learn something about Andrew Grant that they may need to refer to in the future, this is a good way of opening the door to new customers. The site also then had blog elements to it, which I think is a really good idea, it gives the site forever changing and updating content and therefore it is more relevant and modern.
The gallery she has used below would not be relevant to our brief as it is photography based, however the grid and column layout would be, it provides enough visual information in a clear and clean way which is what Andrew Grant were looking for. This kind of layout with a mixture of images, information and articles could make the page very informative and fun to look at without letting the user get bored or put of by the information that we are trying to share.
The next websites I have looked at are all to do with housing and interior design, these I thought would be helpful with any areas of the site that we want to include properties that Andrew Grant are selling and also we want to link the customers themselves with the brand while keeping it a lifestyle magazine, therefore including interior design would be a good idea.
The most common thing about all of these websites they are using a lot of imagery and also the have all used the white backgrounds and clear easy to read text. These are both things that we can incorporate into our own designs to make them clean and professional looking.
