On the 9th December 2019, myself and my group, Emma, Emily and Anastasio all presented our finished digital magazine design to the clients we have been working for from Andrew Grant and too the rest of the peers on our module. This was a really good experience as we had to pitch our ideas and reasons behind all the elements we had created on the site. We also walked away very proud of what we had created as we received some really positive feedback. Even though our design did not get picked to be carried forward we were complimented on our presentation and the client was impressed with our design. I wrote down all the feedback we had receive strengths and weaknesses so that we could work on the digital design and make the corrections before the final hand in of the brief.
Strengths:
- They loved the content ideas - the links on the dog and Worcestershire page on places to go in the local area.
- The lifestyle aspects - Things to do with the children, interior design and activities, represents how they wanted to put the client first.
- Linked with the brand- The colour theme, option to advertise houses for sale on the country homes page and all the relevant information about the company is supplied on there.
- Commercial - Our idea to link the magazine to external sites such as places to visit and venues such as West Midlands Safari Park, this makes the site more commercial and more appealing to a wider audience.
- Presentation - We spoke well individually and split the work well between the team, and the design of the pages flowed well.
Improvements:
- All the fonts and sizes in the heading titles need to be consistent across all the pages
- Is the website easy enough to change the content seasonally like we have planned, can the article be switched out easily and the header images changed.
- The layout of the country homes page is slightly different to the other layouts and therefore looks a little out of place and ruins the flow of the pages slightly.
All this feedback was so important to our final design that we are handing in on the 16th December.
