ICOM Kyoto 2019 – Second forum of Ecomuseums in Osaka

Alberto Garlandini, Vice president of ICOM International wrote: “After the first Forum in Milan in 2016, a great Second Forum of Ecomuseums and Community Museums in Hirano, Osaka during Kyoto’s ICOM General Conference. It has been organized jointly by the ICOM International Committee for Regional Museums (ICR), The Japanese Association of Small Museums (SMN) and the Japan Ecomuseological Society (JECOMS) in the Hirano “Machigurumi” Museum. It has been an exciting and enlighten event with friends from many countries, not only from Asia. Many thanks to the organizers and participants, to ICR President Irena ŽMUC and the great organizer Kenji SAOTOME. I made a speech on what museums and ecomuseums can do for local development and the UN’s Global Sustainable Goals and presented the experience of Italian ecomuseums.”
