Special Meeting

Monday 5th August 2024 at 7.30pm in the Village Hall

Doors open at 7.15pm

The Committee would like to apologise for postponing the original Members Special Meeting and thank you for your understanding.

Even though our Village Hall is not a registered charity, we have previously received several significant grants such as for the stage, lighting and a new roof. Unfortunately, most organisations now only give large grants and donations to registered charities and our Village Hall is in need of essential building work which will cost approx £300k.

In order to ensure the future of our Village Hall as a vital community asset we believe it is now the right time to apply to the Charity Commission to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with wider membership. We are confident that this change will enable us to raise the funds we need through grants and donations.

The Committee would therefore like to invite all members only to a Special Members Meeting to explain what this will mean for the future of our Village Hall, the Committee and for you as a member.

Agenda

1. Registering the Downderry and Seaton Village Hall as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with wider membership.

2. Downderry and Seaton Village Hall CIO Constitution.

The proposed Downderry and Seaton Village Hall CIO Constitution is below.
