The Village Hall Board of Trustees and 'Friends of the Village Hall' host a vibrant calendar of Fundraising Events throughout the year, designed to bring our community together and provide funds for general running costs and towards the vital building work needed for the hall.
Our regular events, like the Little & Bigger Breakfast, Coffee Mornings and Games Afternoon are wonderful opportunities to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Everyone is welcome, and that includes your well-behaved dogs on leads!
Beyond our regular gatherings, we organise a host of other exciting fundraising activities, ensuring there's something for everyone. Enjoy a Panto performed by our very own Village Hall Drama Group. Explore unique finds at our Craft Fairs and Producer Markets, featuring fantastic Cornish items. Join us for fun filled Film, Quiz, Show, and Bingo Nights that the whole family can enjoy. We also love putting on special family events, like the annual Easter Egg Hunt and a magical Children's Christmas Disco where Father Christmas himself makes an appearance, it's wonderful to see the smiles on the children's faces! There is a reasonably priced bar available at appropriate events. We also provide free WiFi and accept payments by both card and cash.
The Village Hall is truly at the heart of our community, not just for fundraising, but also as a vital hub for local engagement and support. Once a year, we host a special Community Fair. This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to come and chat with representatives from various local associations, groups, and organisations in our area. It's a chance to discover what they do, find out how to get involved, or simply show support for the amazing work they contribute to our community.
Then, just before Christmas, we open our doors for another event when we invite local charities and non-profit making organisations to take part, providing them with a space to sell their wares and raise much needed funds for their own causes.
The Village Hall has a variety of Groups you can join and the Main Hall is available for Hire for your own events. So if you're planning a family celebration such as a birthday party, an engagement or wedding reception, or if you want to share your skills and need a suitable venue, please get in touch with our Secretary, Mandy Smith. You can easily check out the hall's facilities and calendar to see what dates and times are available.
The Village Hall is also regularly used for a diverse range of activities that enrich our community's life and wellbeing, including Whitsand Harmony, our local choir who rehearse and put on charity concerts, various exercise sessions, Pilates and for the less energetic Chair Yoga and Qigong. And the amazing acoustics in the Main Hall are excellent for relaxing Sound Bath sessions. Also essential First Aid Training for adults and children, including Defibrillator Training. Coffee Mornings and Afternoon Teas, lively Concerts and Dances, a stimulating Wellbeing Festival and events for our local primary school, St Nics, including their end of year plays and children's events.
Details of all our events are published on this website, our Facebook Group, Local Magazines & Newspapers and Notice Boards around the villages.
See in pictures some of the events held in the village hall in 2023 - 2024 - 2025.
There is also a separate Snooker Room for members use.
The Village Hall is also the Cornwall Community Resilience Network Building in this area. So if there is an emergency the Village Hall could be used to provide a warm place to stay and hot food and drinks.
