the last part of the reading challenge!

House T-shirt Collection

Our house T-shirt collection is ongoing in the primary section. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that all T-shirts are returned for branding. If your child hasn't brought back their T-shirt, please label it clearly with their name and class. These T-shirts will be branded and ready for our end-of-term inter-house event.

Term 2 field trips

We are thrilled to share updates from our recent field trips! Some of our early-year classes and primary classes have already completed their exciting excursions. These trips have been both educational and fun.

We take a multidisciplinary approach with students connecting their experiences to various subjects such as language, science, and global perspectives.

Trip Payments: If your child has participated in a field trip, please ensure that trip payments are submitted promptly. For those who haven't yet gone on a trip, your class teacher will provide confirmation soon.

Blue Discovery T-shirts for all field trips!

10 things you can do to raise a reader

The long-term impact.. when children read at home

📝 Week 2 Reading Challenges

 (March 11-17)

*This week, help your child(ren) create a reading corner/space or a reading basket at home with their favourite books.

*Read a book to your child's class, any school morning between 11:30 to 12:30 for primary classes. You can also bring any of your favourite books and talk about their impact on your life.

*Take a photo/video of your child reading a book. We will give students prizes for the best photos.

Our youngest learners (aged 2 to 5) are embarking on exciting reading challenges too!

Parents are enjoying this journey alongside their children, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Remember to check your child's class groups and follow the highlights and tasks assigned!

Remember, this month at Discovery, we are on a reading adventure in every home!

We want to see Discovery children reading at home regularly, our goal is to see them develop lifelong reading habits that will serve them as they grow every year.

The impact of reading for pleasure is four times more powerful on progress in vocabulary, mathematics, and spelling at age 16 than that of parental education or parental socioeconomic status.

If a child only reads at school, their academic progress slows down!

A Discovery student is a reader at home and a reader at school.

Through this campaign, we want to encourage Discovery families to create a consistent reading culture and a reading environment at home to support reading activities at school!

Reading accelerates academic progress in all areas!  Reading starts at home...
