Incredible Potential Rings

Most non-Monk players by this time will have discovered a disappointing fact. Unlike other weapons you can craft from ingredients from “The Shroud” raid, Green Steel Handwraps do not exist.Repeat after me. Handwraps aren’t the weapon. You are. But you need to wear accessories, more so than handwraps, to gain the destruction that’s comparable to Green Steel.

That doesn’t mean you can’t make Green Steel accessories, such as goggles and cloaks or ki weapons (depending on your build), or Displacement or Raise Dead clickies. Other crafting options now abound in the game to make custom handwraps, but not Green Steel.

You can also use Cannith Crafting and Augment Slots to add alignment or metal-bypassing gems, or re-tool metal-laced handwraps for a specific enemy.

You can also entertain another alternative to stack more damage.

As with any items that boost your abilities and skills, you have several set items to seek as you approach Level 19 and beyond. All of these are found in the Plane of Shavarath.

All special necklaces, belts and rings you may find in the quests within the Devil Battlefield are Bound to Character on Acquire. You can't trade them off to your other characters.

Shintao Monk: Shintao Cord and Kyosho’s Ring

Found in the Shavarath flagging quests as well as the Tower of Despair, these items give impressive improvements on their own. Worn together as a Shintao Monk, your fists now gain Good and Evil damage bypassing. Yes, as a full Shintao Monk, you could wear nothing on your hands at all--and still fully bypass all the DR of a pit fiend.

Ninja Spy: Nyoko’s Necklace and Nyoko’s Band

Good additional stats on each item. Together, the set gives a ninja gets more sneak attack damage and with less threat generated. The invisibility clicky of the necklace might be enticing to non-Ninjas.

Henshin Mystic: Oremi’s Necklace and Oremi’s Ring

The necklace here alone gives extra ki as you wear it as you fight. While Ninja Spy has this ability (to the ki’s stable pool), it’s nice to get the ability to build more ki much, much faster, especially in Fire Stance. Henshin Mystics add additional Fire damage to their attacks if wearing the set items. (These items existed in-game long before the Henshin Mystic class tree was introduced in Update 19. These items have been updated to reflect the class tree connection.)

And that’s not all what the rings can do.

Incredible Potential: One (or Two) Ring(s) to Rule Them All

Each of the special rings found in the Tower of Despair can be crafted using an Altar of Subjugation using the right imbued Shard of Great Power formula and 9 Shavarath War Trophies.

The rings needn’t be the Monk-specific rings. You can craft any of the special class rings you find in Shavarath with "Incredible Potential."

You can imbue a ring with many abilities. But the ones that give you immense power are designed just for unarmed fighters like yourself.

A ring can receive elemental Burst types or Holy Burst. These can, alone, bring a pit fiend to his knees. Never mind the additional damage you have with the handwraps and gear you may be wearing.

The downside? You have to learn and run the Tower of Despair raid 9 times to get the War Trophies. The bad news is that War Trophies are bound to account, so your Monk (or other characters) have to run the raid nine times to gather these (or perhaps the friends you're running with will donate theirs to you from the end chest).

You'll also likely need the Boots of Anchoring to stay in the raid. These boots, created with four special ingredients, keep you from getting banished back to Eberron by one of the raid's end-bosses. If you're banished, you might be able to re-enter, but you won't be able to get your chest rewards.

As well, you must run "The Shroud" or other Vale of Twilight quests to gather up not only any ingredients for your Green Steel accessories but for your Ring(s) as well. Thankfully, the list of Medium ingredients needed is small.

The good news? Once you have everything, you need only find that Tier 2 altar, the Altar of Subjugation. You might know a guild ship with one, or you can make a trip to the Devil Battlefield where an altar is near the wilderness entrance. No need to wait for a Shroud run.

Green Steel accessories (not weapons) get the Taint of Shavarath effect, prohibiting you from wearing more than one of these accessories without killing yourself. You need to run "The Shroud" 20 times to get the Essence of Cleansing to remove the Taint from one of those items.

Despite being crafted in Shroud Green Steel altars, however, Incredible Potential rings don't have the Taint of Shavarath. You can own, wear and craft as many rings as you wish. These Rings are Exclusive, so you can't own or wear two of the same ring in your inventory at once.

Do mind that the Incredible Potential burst effects work on unarmed attacks only, so don’t waste time making some for any other classes that aren’t unarmed. The damage of the burst effect stacks with other burst effects (except Holy Burst--a known, long standing bug).
