Twists of Fate

One way of further improving your Epic Monk, even beyond the venerable epic destiny Grandmaster of Flowers, is to train in other epic destinies and then have access to a few key learned abilities from that other destinies.

While only one epic destiny can be active at one time, you can, over time, access epic destiny abilities from an inactive chain while using another destiny, using the Twists of Fate.

You are granted three Fate slots, all locked at first. Every three destiny levels earns you a "Fate point."

The very first point you get must be used to unlock your first Twist slot, where you can add a Tier 1 ability (not Innate Abilities). After two more Fate points, you can unlock the second slot, and then three points to unlock the final slot.

With more points, you can upgrade the slots to accommodate Tier 4 abilities of other Destinies--but no higher.

Training another epic destiny while giving up your Grandmaster of Flowers seems understandably disturbing, given GMoF's power. But power isn't everything. You may be able, for instance, to take advantage of evasive improvements, or possess an action boost that greatly increases damage for a short time. As with most types of training, there is a period of experimentation to determine the better fit for your fighting style.

At level 29, you gain +2 additional Fate points. At level 30, you gain an additional +3 Fate points and an additional Twist slot.

Epic Completionists gain an extra Twist slot and more Fate points for every four Epic past lives.

Epic Destinies earn both innate abilities (such as Inner Focus in Grandmaster of Flowers) and active abilities (such as Lily Petal)

Twists of Fate can only help you utilize active abilities from other destiny, and only Tier 4 or lower ones.
