RawArt - The iReal Series - Animated VDBs - and More

I remember those times when we Digital Artists found a fun new way to create art through posing articulate figures of people, animals, robots, and creatures that we could buy instead of (or as well as) grabbing the latest game that hit the shelves.

RawArt remembers those times too - though he, like myself, couldn't always afford or even find the specific creature or character pack he was looking for, so he decided to start creating them himself.

It didn't take long before it became abundantly clear that he could earn a living providing these fantastical pieces of art for the rest of the world as well - and so he did!

I grew up in a time when Movie and TV Monsters had to be applied to actors as makeup or operated as puppets applied to a stop-motion armature. A time when they'd give us a glimpse of what we should be thinking and our imaginations had to do the rest.

Movie posters and TV ads were painted by illustrators who could reach into the depths of our dreams and show us how to really immerse ourselves into what we were about to see on screen - and we did.

Those monsters were the coolest thing to my young self, my brother, and everyone else who enjoyed the fantastic!

This fun piece from the show reminds me of an old movie that I loved growing up - Gargoyles.

It utilizes RawArt's BlutStone for Genesis 9, Old Stone Walls by Enterables, Lighting and background from Jurassic Forest, by KindredArts, and the torch flame is from Josh Darling/DimensionTheory's VDB Essentials - Prep and Animate

We'll build this whole animation in this episode!

Throughout his career creating character and creature packs for Daz 3D figures and other articulate creations sold there, RawArt has captured the essence of these creatures and a whole lot more. He always enabled us to play out adventures with the style, look, and feel of the best that our imaginations could garner - and with each new generation of Daz Figure, these immortal favorites followed along getting better and more expanded as the adventure continued.

Raw Griffins, an expansion for Daz 3D's Legendary Griffin figure (legacy) and one of RawArt's earliest, next to the much newer Griffin for Daz Dog 8!

Both are fantastic mythical creatures that are an excellent addition to any library, while the newer one also combines with the power of being compatible with many other support products made for the Daz Dog 8 - like animations, for example!

Even as these newer, better versions would roll into the store and excite our minds, his previous work never loses its charm - as with those great monsters of old - they still fit right in as part of a great collection of malevolent and benevolent creatures within our libraries that always inspire us with how Fantastical our figures can become!

In this Special Feature of The Creative Cart we'll be exploring the Incredible creations of RawArt and, to help make this journey more Special, we're going to tell a little tale along the way!

Visuals will become enhanced within Daz Studio through the use of the iReal series by ThePhilosopher, the new VDB Essentials - Prep and Animate, by Josh Darling and DimensionTheory, special scenery creation kits by KindredArts, and doll it all up with a few of the ever-so-useful interior/exterior buildings by Enterables!

As with all of the Creative Cart series, we'll be exploring many fun and effective ways to quickly put all of this stuff together to make some really cool videos, still images, and storyboard design work.

Combining all of these elements together is truly a great way to take our art to new heights as we elevate our skills and quicken our minds to what we have available to us as hands-on visual artists!

RawKong

A great deal of this episode was created around a theme that I used as a means to help determine what artists and products should be featured. RawArt's apes for all generations, to me, are simply stupendous! I've always loved the look of them.

Ape World Gorilla for Genesis 8 Male really looks special to me - the face especially - but I think all of him looks fantastic and makes for a beautiful Kong!

As particular parts of the story began to evolve and I searched my library of assets and at Daz 3D for elements that would help them come together, everything I needed to decide just popped into view before my eyes - which is how most Creative Carts are born.

Finding (and buying) KindredArt's Jurassic Forest happened directly as a result of this search. I thought that it would really help out the Skull Island look that I was after - and I was more than right in that assumption - wow am I ever happy that I bought this!

Not only is the complete scene load-out amazing, but all of the added bits that it comes with became a Massive time-saver and visual improvement - along with giving me whole new techniques for getting higher-quality renders without being too much of a burden on time or my PC!

This is not all of them, but this short video is several of the "Kong" scene stitched together without any post processing other than some basic compositing of backgrounds to characters and the act of joining them into a series. These scenes were all made for the show - some of them are a direct result of the working of the show. But like I said earlier, this episode is Massive! This is just a small part of what this episode will have to offer!

RawArt's Albana in an Aztec Platform, by Enterables. Flames are animated VDB Essentials - Prep and Animate Base Asset Preloads

Background is one of the HDR Lighting solutions from Jurrasic Forest, which we'll make great use of in the episode!

APE WORLD - Through the Daz 3D Generations

Meet the Synthoids

For added variety, fun, and a Wonderful Aesthetic, Synthoids will be acting in our play as Dancing Natives of Skull Island

More Natives of Skull Island

The leader and shaman of the clan, Grimskull for Genesis 8 Male, predicts that, if they were to marry off the golden-haired girl (Rosie 8.24) to RawKong (Ape World Gorilla G8M), that he, their mighty god, will grant them a boon.

Dokkalfar for Genesis 8 Female plays as his lovely assistant.

RawArt's Albana, playing as Rosie, rides a scaled up Big Cat Dog for Daz Dog 8 through an Ultimate Grass & Meadow (animated using the Ireal Add-on) lit and accessorized (Ancient Tree) with Kindredart's Jurassic Forest kit.

RawArt's Albane, playing as Dartanbeck 9, gives Rosie 8.24 her very first on-screen kiss!

Okay, now we have to flee this area... Run!

Liking the idea of keeping RawArt's Albane as Dartanbeck 9, in this shot his facial hair has been darkened to better resemble mine, and Jepe's dForce Omni Body Hair Sets did a great job on the chest and arms. I like him. Otherwise I'd never have let him kiss Rosie!!!

(and she'd never kiss him unless she knew that he was me! :)  )

Generations of the Mighty TOR!!!

Naga and their Cursed Gorgon Queen, Medusa

More Adventures!!!

The Big Diversion

We're going to use both TyRex and Stegolian to create our very own Genesis 1 Zilla!

TyRex also plays a part as a Dinosaur that battles RawKong trying to take Rosie from him - just the diversion that allowed Dartanbeck to come sweep her away to... safety?

For these distant shots, Ape World 2 Gorilla is perfect to go up against TyRex!

I may not have the Genesis 9 Ape World Gorilla yet, but Ape World Gorilla G8M is gorgeously detailed no matter how close we get!

With RawKong scaled up to 800%, I'll teach you my trick for correcting the scale of his wonderful dForce coat of fur!

Adorable beyond measure, yet with the capacity to be mean and deadly if you need him (or her) to be, We'll be using Impsimian for Genesis 9 to help demonstrate how fun it can be working with various elements of Jurassic Forest, and this is the ground from Old Stone Walls, by Enterables, which we'll be using a Lot in this episode.

My Animation Methods

In every Creative Cart episode, we see that I never actually leave motion capture data (aniBlocks or animated poses) as they are - I'm always tweaking them to match the needs of what I'm aiming for.

I teach how to create these tools in my course: The Complete Guide to Animating Dynamic Characters in Daz Studio

and this short primer shows the basics of how I use them that is not sped up as seen during the Creative cart shows - just to help gives folks a better understanding of "Why I make them" and "How I use them"

Another Special Feature that is provided freely due to the enormity of this Special Feature Episode. Enjoy
