10/30/18 Klamorick 64th & Butler 104th at Regionals

Sophomores Allena Klamorick and Bonnie Butler wrapped up their terrific seasons with a strong performance at Saturday's D1 Regional Championship held at Pickerington North High School. Seeded 77th based on district results, Allena maintained a spot in the top 70 throughout the entirety of the race and used a strong kick to close her season as the 64th best female runner in Central Ohio. Seeded 90th based on district results, Bonnie spent the majority of her race in the top 100 before losing a few spots down the stretch for her 104th place finish.

The race signifies the end of the 2018 season for the girls team. The girls ended their season with a record of 60 wins - 49 losses, including a top three finish at the Canal Winchester Invitational (3rd place of 16 teams). Relying on tremendous camaraderie, work ethic, and leadership, the team overcame several injuries to manage a very solid 7th place finish in their district. The girls are set to return 28 of 29 athletes on the roster, including their two regional qualifiers. Pair that with a large and talented incoming freshmen class and the future looks bright for the Lady Indians. Congrats on a solid season!

10/24/18 Girls Finish 7th, Klamorick & Butler Qualify to Regionals

The high school girls enjoyed their best race of the season Saturday, finishing 7th of 15 teams in the Division 1, Section 1 district race. The gutsy girls team managed a season best top five average of 22:01 despite a steady stream of 20 mph winds. Including the open race, ten Lady Indians enjoyed season best marks on the day.

Allena Klamorick (18th, 20:33) and Bonnie Butler (20th, 20:46) extended the season for the girls squad, earning all-district honors for their top 20 finishes and qualifying to the D1 Regional meet this Saturday at 3pm. Bonnie's finish came as the result of an astounding PR of 65 seconds. Allena and Bonnie became just the 10th and 11th girls in school history to qualify to the regional meet since the Indians were classified D1 in 2009, joining the likes of Emily Pifer, Penny Boswell, Kayla Scott, Ali Stauffer, Megan Tamasovich, Cassidy Long, Chloe Palmer, Erica Babusci, and Paige Bormann.

Allena and Bonnie will race this Saturday, 3pm at Pickerington North. All CWXC athletes are welcome to ride the bus (bus leaves at 1:20pm). Be aware that all spectating athletes will have to pay the entry fee to see the start and finish of the race. Great work Lady Indians, and best luck to Allena and Bonnie!

10/24/18 Guys Finish 9th at Central District Championship

The high school guys team finished a "lower than expected" ninth place in team standings (of 13 teams) at Saturday's district championship, ending the 2018 campaign for the squad. In the last race of his high school xc career, Senior Will Butler led the way for the Indians with his 33rd place finish (17:31). Reece Klamorick (39th, 17:36), Michael McKeon (53rd, 18:06), Brett Smithers (58th, 18:11) and Jared Tomlinson (60th, 18:21) all set season best marks for the team despite a steady 20+ mph wind during the race.

The guys team enjoyed great success in the open race, placing 10th of 20 teams in a very competitive field. The open team's top five average of 18:33 in the race smashed the previous school record for an open race by 19 seconds (previous record was a 18:52 average set in 2011 at the Galion Festival). Carson Reeb, Dominic Babusci, Ian Lewis, Will Keiser, Scotty Garner, and Matthew McKeon all broke the 19 minute barrier and set season best marks in the race. In all, 23 Indian runners set season marks on the day.

The 2018 guys team ended the season with a very solid record of 104 wins and 28 losses, including wins at the Whitehall and Newark Invitationals. The team hopes to use this year's post-season finish as motivation heading into the offseason. The team has plenty to be excited for as they are set to return ten of their top twelve runners. Congrats on a solid season!
