Before gaining your first level you must decide which type of Gallalein you are. There are two main branches in the belief of one true god Gallahad those who walk in the moment and those who set their eyes on the what's ahead.
Gallahad -
In the grand order of existence, there reigns one God above all, often referred to as the one true god, Gallahad. He is not merely a figure of divine justice but the architect of balance itself, the weaver of destinies, and the judge of all. From the beginning of time, Gallahad inscribed the Sacred Law of Return into the fabric of the universe, decreeing:
"As the seed is sown, so shall the harvest be reaped. The good shall be rewarded, and the wicked shall receive their due. This is the eternal balance, immutable and just."
Those that hold their faith and belief in Gallahad and Gallahad alone are known just as the Faithful of the Balance, living by the Sacred Law of Return, striving to align their actions with virtue and trust as to not fall on the wrong side of the scale. When faced with trial or uncertainty, they turn to Gallahad's saints—his divine servants for guidance and intercession. Each saint representing a facet of Gallahad's will, offering solace, direction, or strength tailored to the faithful’s needs. They ask the Saints for their aid first as Gallahad thyself stated:
"Before you call upon the name of the one true God, turn to those I have sent. The saints are guardians of the Sacred Law, their voices echoing my own. In their counsel, find clarity and strength."
(Book of Reflection 6:3)
Thanatos -
In the divine hierarchy of Gallahad, there exists a servant of unparalleled significance: Thanatos, the God of Death. Known by many names most commonly the guide to renewal but to those that look to him for his favor before Gallahad's call him the Saint of Salvation. Thanatos is the eternal caretaker of life’s end, tasked with the sacred duty of guiding souls through the Cycle of Return, ensuring their leos is restored to the world through reincarnation. Thanatos is not a god of fear or punishment but of transformation and renewal. As Gallahad's most trusted servant, he presides over the great transition from mortal life to spiritual reckoning, gently severing the ties of the soul from the material world. In his care, the departed are neither lost nor forgotten but prepared for their next journey.
Those that hold strong faith and belief in Thanatos are known as Reclaimers. Reclaimers believe that life and death are essential parts of an eternal cycle governed by Gallahad's Sacred Law. They welcome death with open arms for they view death not as an end but as a transformation, ensuring the soul’s growth through reincarnation. By embracing the natural order and honoring both life and death, Reclaimers seek to align themselves with Gallahad's balance, trusting that every action shapes the soul's journey toward ultimate harmony.
At 1st level, you may utilize your faith to cast Basic Patterns from the Path of Devotion, Pattern list using prayer and guidance as your catalyst. as you progress you will receive Ascensions that unlock new patterns in each of these paths. When attempting to cast a pattern from the Path of Devotion you are required to make a Pattern Casting Check, the way to calculate this check is displayed below. Additionally, when attempting to ensnare, mentally probe or ensue some other effect that will cause grief to another creature (If stated on the pattern.) they will be required to overcome your Pattern Save DC, the way to calculate this DC is also displayed below.
Pattern Casting Check = Your Roll + your Charisma modifier.
Pattern Save DC = 8 + your Proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier.
How to cast a pattern -
Each pattern has a Pure DC and an Impure DC. If the total of your Pattern Casting Check (Calculation method stated above.) is the Pure DC or higher the pattern functions as listed but if the total is between the Impure DC and Pure DC, The Impure function of the pattern is cast instead. In the event of a Natural 1 being rolled while attempting to cast a pattern it is a complete and utter failure and the corrupted function of the pattern is cast instead. If the roll is between 2 and the Impure DC the pattern will fizzle out and nothing will happen, example of Pattern below.
Self Mental Anguish - ← Pattern Name
Pure DC: 18 ← Pattern Casting Check must be this number or higher for most optimal result
Impure DC: 12 ← Pattern Casting Check MUST be this number or higher to be cast
You may pray for a blessing to understand pattern casting in CTG and aid you in your battle to mentally understand the game for the bettering of you and your close friends. When this is cast you may study CTG and learn how the pattern casting works and gain the ability to use caster and half caster classes until your next long rest.
