Mission Date: Launch date to be determined no sooner than one week before all science systems fully tested.

Science:

  • Material Science Payload from Stingelin Lab at Georgia Tech with passive and active experiments

    • Organic Solar Cell Testing (10 cells with 8 measurements each with analog voltage measured through non-inverting op-amps with gain of 2

    • Photodiode Transmission Measurements through various samples measuring combinations of UV-A, UV-B, UV-C, and visible/IR - total of 18 photodiode measurements

    • Moisture Sensor Test - recording O2, relative humidity, temperature and pressure underneath the sample

    • Capacitance - measuring capacitance changes in polymer sample


  • Geiger Counter measuring alpha, beta, gamma radiation levels

  • Temperature measurements taken inside payload box, on top next to samples, and two inside of moisture sensor experiments.

Total sensor data channels: 115 taken at 10Hz for 3 hours = 12.4 million data points --> ~20 MB of memory with image and video data (in the range of 12GB)

Polymeric substrates for flexible electronics – 4 samples

Substrates (4) – do we want to measure anything to them or only passively expose them?

Moisture barriers (Tanner)

Samples (2) – RH, O2, Temp [each with custom box]

  • Flying moisture and oxygen-sensitive pellets or films as a control.

  • Relative humidity and oxygen sensors can be placed in the balloon.


Collaborators

Correa-Baena Lab solar cells – 8 samples

Solar cells (8-10) - measure voltage (need to know voltage range)

  • 8 different halides (I, Br) ratios.

  • How many pixels of each cell should be measured for statistics?

Reynolds - Conductivity

Samples? (2) - Use a current source to pass a small current through it, use gain in opamp circuit to amplify the potential drop, solve for resistance = 1 / conductivity [needs to be tested]
