Known in Scouting circles as Chet, Dr. Chet, or simply Doc, Dr. Chester R. Lapeza III was a skilled physician and an Assistant Scoutmaster with Cordele Boy Scout Troop 270, from 2011-2019. He had previously served as a Pack Leader for Cub Scout Pack 270, including the position of Cubmaster. He was a member of the South Georgia Council Executive Board.

Chet was an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Withlacoochee Lodge of the Order of the Arrow as well as its predecessor, the Immokalee Lodge. He and his wife Amy were the parents of a pair of Eagle Scouts, Ches and Eli.

Chris Chappell served as the Scoutmaster for Troop 270 from 2009 to 2012.
