Troop 270 camped at Georgia Veterans Memoria State Park on January 22-24, 2016. The guys spent Saturday working on park benches for Jack Frost's Eagle Scout project. On Sunday morning, they awoke to a temperature of 24 degrees.
Scouts in attendance were Reid Brinson, Jack Frost, Michael Frost, Ethan Griggs, Eli Lapeza, Conner Meador, Jake Olds, Laieton Sharp, Joshua Smith, and Dylan Teel. Adults present that morning were SM John Frost, ASM Chet Lapeza, and ASM Britt Brinson.
The Troop camped at Camp Patten as part of Webelos Rendezvous on December 8-10, 2017. Our Scouts spent Saturday teaching Cooking and Sanitation to Webelos Scouts from Packs all across the South Georgia Council. The temperature on Sunday morning reached 28 degrees.
Scouts at the event were Reid Brinson, Michael Frost, Nguyen Nguyen, Laieton Sharp, Dylan Teel, and Korey Watts. Adults present were SM John Frost, ASM Chet Lapeza, and ASM Britt Brinson.
Local Scouts camped at Camp Westin during a hiking trip at Allatoona Pass and Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. The temperature on Sunday morning was 31 degrees.
Scouts present that day were Andrew Bedore, Wesley Fletcher, Benjamin Nipper, Laieton Sharp, and Landan Woodard. Adults attending were COR Gerry Nipper, ASM Britt Brinson, ASM Reid Brinson, and TCM Jody Fletcher.
Troop 270 held a hiking weekend at Camp Osborn on January 29-31, 2021. The boys had a chance to hike, cook over a fire, and cook on hiking stoves, among other things. The temperature on Saturday morning got down to 31 degrees.
Scouts who camped that Friday night were Andrew Bedore, Matthew Bedore, Hagan Ekkel, Wesley Fletcher, Jacob Frost, JJ Morris, George Reyna, Laieton Sharp, Trevor Spillers, Jensen Wade, Korey Watts, and Landan Woodard. Adults on site were ASM Britt Brinson, Jody, Fletcher, Bobby Wade, and David Wade.
Members of the Troop that belong to the Withlacoochee Lodge of the Order of the Arrow attended Indian Winter at Camp Benjamin Hawkins on January 7-9, 2022. The temperature dropped to 29 degrees on Saturday morning.
Scouts who made the trip were Wesley Fletcher, Laieton Sharp, Jensen Wade, Korey Watts, and Landan Woodard. Troop 270 adults who attended were ASM Britt Brinson, TCC Terry Fennell, and ASM David Wade.
The Troop camped at Camp Osborn as part of the Frontier Heritage Days event on January 12-14, 2024. The temperature dropped to 31 degrees on Sunday morning.
Troop members who attended were Landon Atkins, Simon Baker, Wesley Fletcher, Jacob Frost, Cody Ngo, and Jensen Wade. Adult Scouters were Scoutmaster John Frost, Brady Atkins, Gene Baker, Britt Brinson, Terry Fennell, Jody Fletcher, and David Wade.
The Troop camped in Terrell County on property owned by Mr. Bob Atkins on February 23-25, 2024. On Sunday morning, the temperature dropped to 31 degrees. The land is the likely site of the Battle of Echowanotchaway Creek in 1836.
Boy Scouts who camped on Saturday night were Simon Baker and Benjamin NIpper. Webelos Scout Jake Atkins also camped. They were joined by Scouters Brady Atkins, Britt Brinson, Terry Fennell, Gerry Nipper, and David Wade.
The Troop taught knots at Webelos Rendezvous on December 8, 2024 at Camp Osborn. While most of the Troop spent Friday night in the Burrow, our newest member, Gabe Browning spent the night in a tent with his friend, AoL candidate Mason Phillips.
The temperature dropped to 25 degrees by Saturday morning.
