Activity 2

If you have ever commented, uploaded, recorded, blogged, signed up, signed in or tweeted then you will have an online presence somewhere. An online presence is available to the world 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no escape from it. This is why it is crucial to think about the messages you are sending the world about you.

It is important to be as private online as you are with the stranger on the bus or the person walking down the street. If you wouldn't tell them, why post it online?

EMBED:

Using the get safe online website for up-to-date facts and information, write your own blog post on protecting your online identity and privacy.

CLASSROOM IDEAS:

The Jimmy Kimmel video in Activity 5 is quite powerful at getting students to see how easy it is for people to steal your personal information. Instead of making a blog post for the embed activity, students could create a video clip instead.
