Biotechnology Certificate

The biotechnology certificate program is designed to prepare students to work in a research lab or biotech company as a technician or research associate in research and development, or manufacturing of biotechnology reagents.

The minimum time for completion of this certificate is 2 semesters. Completion time will vary based on student preparation and number of classes completed per semester.

Prerequisites

This program is designed for students who have a strong grasp of algebra, biology, and chemistry from previous college coursework. For students with no previous science background, the Bridge to Biosciences and Biotechnology Laboratory Assistant Certificate can provide the preparation needed for the Biotechnology Certificate Program.

and

BTEC 25 - Analytical PCR Technology 1


(2) Choose one of the following:

BTEC 120 - Molecular and Cell Biotechnology 5

or

BTEC 22 - Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) 1

and

BTEC 23 - Western blotting techniques 1


(3) Choose 3 additional units from the following elective courses not completed above:

BTEC 5 - Briefings in Biotechnology 1

BTEC 21C - Stem Cell Technology* 3
